FAQs

Pricing and Payment Questions

Q: What are your tutoring rates, and how does payment work?

A: Our tutoring rates range from $45-$65 per hour, depending on the type of service, which is competitively priced below major competitors. We offer flexible package options, including 4-, 8-, and 12-hour monthly packages, which we'll decide on together based on your student's needs. Payment is convenient via Stripe, Zelle, or Cash App. We work collaboratively with parents to determine the best package length for your student's goals and your family's budget.

Q: Do you offer any trial sessions?

A: Absolutely! We conduct a trial session with goals specifically tailored to the information you provide about your student. This allows both you and your student to experience our adaptive tutoring approach firsthand and ensures we're the right fit before committing to a package.

Scheduling and Availability

Q: What are your available hours, and how flexible is scheduling?

A: Our regular tutoring hours are Sunday -Friday, 10 AM–8 PM PST. We use Google Calendar for scheduling, making it easy to find times that work for your family's busy schedule. Standard sessions are 60 minutes but can extend up to 2 hours depending on your student's needs and attention span.

Q: What happens if my student misses a session?

A: Life happens, and we understand that! If a session is missed, I'll notify you immediately and offer a makeup session as compensation. This policy reflects our commitment to ensuring your student gets the full value of their tutoring package.

Tutoring Approach and Methods

Q: How is your tutoring approach different from other services?

A: Our approach is uniquely student-centered and adaptive, informed by my experience with high-functioning autism, which gives me exceptional insight into different learning styles. I've received consistently positive feedback from parents and students about my ability to work with diverse learning needs. Each session includes a review of prior content, identification of strengths and struggles, check-for-understanding questions, and personalized feedback. All sessions are strictly 1-to-1, even during peak exam periods, ensuring your student gets undivided attention.

Q: What subjects do you tutor, and what grade levels do you work with?

A: I specialize in ELA (English Language Arts), History (including AP US, AP World, AP European History), college admissions essay writing, Regents exam prep (Global and US History), and both creative and academic writing coaching. I work with students from 6th grade through post-graduate level, though the majority of my students are in middle and high school. My MA in English and Creative Writing, along with a graduate certificate in online teaching of writing, ensure expert-level instruction.

Service Details and Logistics

Q: How do you conduct tutoring sessions?

A: All sessions are conducted via Zoom, though I'm open to other platforms that integrate with Google tools if that works better for your family. I use my own carefully developed teaching materials and leverage tools for personalized lesson planning. All materials and progress are tracked through Google Drive and Notion for easy access and review.

Q: Do you work with students outside the United States?

A: Currently, I serve students throughout the entire United States, but I do not work with international students. This allows me to focus on US curriculum standards and college admissions requirements that will best serve your student's academic goals.

Q: How do you track my student's progress?

A: I maintain detailed records of each session, including review of prior lesson content, identified strengths and areas for improvement, comprehension checks, and specific feedback. While I'm currently exploring learning management systems to improve progress tracking, I ensure parents stay informed about their student's development throughout our work together.
